Welcome to BoatSOS – Maritime Rescue System (“BoatSOS”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
By accessing or using the BoatSOS mobile application and website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.
If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Service.
1. Purpose of the Service
BoatSOS is a maritime emergency notification platform designed to help boat operators send SOS alerts to nearby users in case of emergency situations (such as mechanical failure, medical emergencies, or fire).
BoatSOS does not provide professional rescue services and is not a replacement for coast guard, emergency authorities, or professional maritime rescue organizations.
2. User Roles
BoatSOS includes two primary user roles:
- Distressed User: A user who sends an SOS alert.
- Helper User: A user who receives an SOS notification and may choose to respond.
Helpers are volunteers and are not verified rescue professionals.
3. No Guarantee of Assistance
BoatSOS does not guarantee that:
- An SOS alert will be received
- A helper will respond
- Assistance will arrive on time
- Assistance will be effective or appropriate
Use of the Service is entirely at your own risk.
4. User Responsibility
You agree that:
- You are solely responsible for your actions when using BoatSOS
- You will not rely exclusively on BoatSOS in life-threatening situations
- You will always contact official emergency services when possible
Helpers agree that:
- They act voluntarily and at their own discretion
- They are responsible for assessing their own safety before responding
- BoatSOS bears no responsibility for outcomes resulting from assistance attempts
5. Location & Accuracy
BoatSOS relies on GPS and network services which may be inaccurate or unavailable.
We make no warranties regarding:
- Location accuracy
- Distance calculations
- Timeliness of notifications
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BoatSOS shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to injury, loss of life, property damage, or financial loss resulting from the use or inability to use the Service.
7. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use BoatSOS.
By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if we believe these Terms have been violated or if use of the Service poses a risk to others.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
